Afternoon Class Foley Design
The sound design for this video was made through foley recorded by me and through sourcing for sound effects online. This is for my Foley module's graded exam assignment.

Firstly, I watched the video through without sound, then proceeded to go online to watch the actual video to gain some inspiration. Then, I started thinking about the sound journey I wanted our viewers to be taken on in the shoes of this character in the film as he is conflicted between falling asleep and staying awake.

I decided that I wanted to play into the idea of hallucinations when you are tired. In this case, the hallucinations refer to the character starting to hear his own voice telling him to either give in to sleep or to stay awake throughout the course of the video. Not only that, when he enters the limbo state/dream sequence towards the end of the video, we see the tension rise as he is angry and is trying to get other people that he sees to wake up as well and the jarring laser like sounds help to reflect that mood.

For all the Foley sounds, I collated them on a spotting list and went into my school's Foley studio to record the sounds with the aid of my classmates. These are some photos from my recording sessions:
On the left, it's a set up with the equipment to be used to create one of the sound effects. On the top right, I am the recordist manning Pro Tools and recording the sounds that I need. On the bottom right, I am the Foley artist and I'm following the video on screen and enacting out the sound.
After recording all the Foley sounds needed and sourcing for the rest of the sound effects online, I put them all into a Pro Tools Session and synced them up according to the picture and applied digital signal processing such as reverb, EQ, etc. This is a screenshot from my session followed by the final video below:
